Here are some tips for decorating your baby (or soon to be baby’s) nursery!

Start with Pinterest.

Pinterest is addicting when you’re pregnant, so many cute ideas for nurseries!! You can see my inspiration board here.

My main takeaways from Pinterest were the rug and giraffe in the picture above – I had to have them– and then pretty much everything else I just hunted around to find.

I had loads of fun decorating Jack’s room. Here’s a list of the things in his room and where I found them.

Paint Color

I get so many compliments on the color of this room! It’s Sherwin Williams and I don’t have the name of the color off hand. We actually had painted this room when we moved into the house so it was ready to go! Score! I hate painting (glad we had a boy J although I probably still would have made it work if we had a girl.)

Curtains

From IKEA – super cheap (I think $20 for the set) and just what I was looking for. They’re super long when you buy them though so if you don’t have tall ceilings you’ll likely have to hem them.

Rug

This is one of my splurge purchases – and I’m so glad I went with it! It’s from IKEA, it’s the Alvine Ruta rug and runs about $250. It’s 100% wool and I think it will last for a long time. If you’re looking for something super soft though, this is probably not it.

Furniture – Crib and 2 Dressers

Scored this set on sale at Buy Buy Baby for $500. They were on sale & already assembled so I snatched them up!

Animal Print Shop Photos

I’ll admit I saw these all over Pinterest and decided I must have them. I just bought the prints online and framed them myself with cheap white frames I bought from Michael’s (that’ll save you a lot of money).

Touch Tone Wall Hanger It’s from The Land of Nod. It comes in handy for storing toys, shoes, diapering essentials, and more!

Hanging White Bookshelf

I got that from Land of Nod too! I love it! I never know what to hang on my walls so this shelf is both functional and decorative! Double win!

Rocking chair

Found this on Overstock.com – I can’t resist a good deal, and this was much less expensive than typical “nursery chairs”. I’m hoping to use it in other areas of the house when my kids are older.

Melissa and Doug Giraffe!

This is one of my favorite items in the room. It’s from Amazon – Melissa and Doug giraffe. It really brings personality to the room J

Mirrors

These are from Joss and Main – and I just love the way they turned out, although they took forever to get!

Globe Night Light

This is so small, if I didn’t mention it you’d probably miss it. It’s also from Land of Nod. It looks so cute at night. It projects “stars and constellations” on the ceiling and is just enough light to check on the baby without having to turn on lights in the middle of the night.
